Does the consultation cost anything?
No. The consultation is free and there is no obligation to buy anything.
Who will contact me, and how often?
One local solar professional matched to your area. They reach out by phone, text or email to set up your consultation, as you agree to when you submit the form. You can ask them to stop at any time.
Am I committing to anything by requesting a consultation?
No. The consultation is a conversation. You decide what happens next, and you can say no.
Does solar still make sense with California’s Net Billing rules (NEM 3.0)?
It can, but the math is different. Since April 2023, new solar customers of PG&E, SCE and SDG&E earn lower credits for the power they send back to the grid, so how the system is sized and whether it includes a battery matter more. Your consultation should walk through the numbers for your home.
Do I need a battery?
Not necessarily. A battery can store solar power for evenings and keep key circuits running during an outage, but it adds cost. Whether it fits depends on your usage, your utility rate plan and what you want from your system.
What if my roof is old?
Tell your solar professional. Roof age and condition affect timing and cost, and they can advise whether to repair or replace the roof before installing panels.
Can I request a consultation if I rent?
Solar is installed with the property owner’s approval, so the consultation is built for homeowners. If you rent, the owner of the property would need to be involved.
Do you install the solar systems?
No. Sun Quote Direct is a solar quote referral service. We match you with a local solar professional, and that professional handles your consultation and any installation.
